The Ministry of Construction and Housing-Communal Services has published a draft proposal for public discussion, outlining significant increases in centralized heating tariffs for the population of Tashkent. This initiative is expected to place an additional financial burden on local residents amidst ongoing economic pressures.
According to the published document, the new pricing structure for Tashkent is scheduled to take effect on November 1 of the current year. The fee for central heating is projected at 314 soms per 1 square meter per day, including VAT. Meanwhile, metered hot water will cost 11,607 soms per 1 cubic meter with VAT, whereas unmetered consumption will be charged at 45,330 soms per person per month. Furthermore, the thermal energy tariff is set to reach 206,636 soms per Gcal, and hot water supply for dormitory residents is planned at 33,720 soms per person monthly.
Currently, the cost of 1 cubic meter of hot water stands at 8,928.7 soms with VAT, and 34,868.9 soms per person without a meter, while heating is calculated at 241.4 soms per square meter daily. If the proposed project is formally adopted, the tariff for thermal energy will surge by nearly 48 percent, and the cost of heating and hot water for capital consumers will jump by approximately 30 percent. Public consultations regarding the document are set to run until October 28.
