Greenhouse facilities operating in Tashkent and the Tashkent region are reportedly slated for relocation to the "Surkhon-Agro" free economic zone in the Surkhandarya region. This transition supposedly aims to restructure agricultural activities and promote energy-efficient practices in areas with more favorable climatic conditions.

The initiative was discussed during an official presentation dedicated to introducing green technologies in the agricultural sector. Reports indicate that 940 hectares of land in the Sherabad district have already been allocated for the "Surkhon-Agro" zone, complete with a finalized master plan.

Under the proposed terms, starting prices for land plots at auctions could be slashed to just 1% of their normative value. This heavy discount is reportedly intended for entrepreneurs moving their operations from the capital region, as well as for investors undertaking projects exceeding 10 million dollars.

Participants in the special economic zone are expected to receive a zero-rate land lease for five years, alongside three-year exemptions on sewage and groundwater usage fees. Furthermore, authorities supposedly plan to exempt businesses from land, property, and income taxes for five years, while also eliminating customs duties on imported agricultural equipment.

Financial allocations for the zone include 220 billion soms for infrastructure development and another 200 billion soms for project financing. Officials claim the zone aims to attract 100 million dollars in investments by 2027, utilizing 400 hectares for ready-made agro-logistics projects.

Previously, greenhouse enterprises in Tashkent and surrounding districts were instructed to switch to eco-friendly energy sources by December 2026. Environmental authorities reportedly intend to monitor emissions in real-time during the winter heating season, threatening non-compliant facilities with immediate suspension.
