Prominent filmmaker Muzaffarkhon Erkinov, known for helming historical biographical pictures such as 'Avloniy', 'Abdulla Oripov', and 'Maxtumquli Firogʻiy', has officially wrapped up the shooting phase for his latest historical project titled 'Shirok'. The production is being carried out by the 'RAMZ-FILM' studio under the auspices of the Cinematography Agency of the Ministry of Culture, following a presidential decree issued on June 5, 2024.
The newly released behind-the-scenes footage highlights the scale of the production, which centers on the legendary figure of Shiroq, an ancient national hero revered for sacrificing his life to defend his homeland from foreign invaders. Rather than relying solely on brute force, the narrative reportedly portrays Shiroq as a strategic thinker who outwitted a vastly superior military force through cunning and unwavering devotion.
According to the historical accounts derived from the writings of the ancient Greek military historian Polyaenus and his work 'Strategemata', Shiroq purportedly tricked the Achaemenid ruler Darius by feigning betrayal against his own people, luring the massive imperial army deep into waterless deserts. By intentionally sacrificing his own life, he allegedly doomed the invading forces to catastrophe and successfully preserved his native land from subjugation.
The creative team behind the feature film includes screenwriter Nazar Eshonqulov, director Muzaffarkhon Erkinov, cinematographer Ravshan Mirzakamalov, production designer Kakhramon Matkarimov, and composer Muinzoda. The filmmakers claim the project is designed to instill patriotic values, national pride, and a deep reverence for ancestral heritage among the younger generation.
