Uzbekistan has proposed several high-profile construction and infrastructure development projects in Afghanistan. The proposed ventures include a large-scale residential and public complex covering 60 hectares near Kabul International Airport, alongside a new business center and modern apartment complexes within the Afghan capital.
The proposals were presented by an Uzbek delegation led by Bobur Elmurodov, Director General of the urban planning institute "O‘zshaharsozlik LITI," during formal discussions with Nasih Rabboni, Afghanistan's Deputy Minister of Urban Development and Housing, and other technical specialists.
Beyond the projects planned for Kabul, the Uzbek delegation proposed expanding commercial infrastructure within the Hairatan industrial zone. Additionally, the initiative outlines plans to establish a meat processing cluster in Mazar-i-Sharif, aimed at supplying high-quality meat products to the Uzbek domestic market.
Afghan officials expressed their readiness to provide favorable operational conditions for Uzbek companies entering the local construction sector. As part of bilateral outcomes, the parties discussed establishing a representative office of "O‘zshaharsozlik LITI" in Kabul and launching training initiatives for Afghan construction professionals.
The Uzbek delegation is scheduled to return to Afghanistan in October to advance negotiations and inspect prospective construction grounds, including the "New Kabul" development site. Previously, specialists from Uzbekistan's Cultural Heritage Agency visited historical sites across Afghanistan to evaluate conservation and restoration opportunities.
