During the US-Uzbekistan Business and Investment Council meeting held in Samarkand, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev hosted top executives and directors of major international corporations. The discussions reportedly focused on the ongoing transformation of large state-owned enterprises and the preliminary outcomes of structural economic reforms aimed at boosting foreign investment in the country.

Speaking to the press following her meeting with the Uzbek leadership, Franklin Templeton President and CEO Jenny Johnson lauded the country's strategic trajectory. She highlighted the historic listing of the National Investment Fund of Uzbekistan on the London and Tashkent stock exchanges, claiming that the offering purportedly generated nearly $700 million while attracting investor demand that allegedly exceeded expectations by more than fourfold.

Johnson further stated that Uzbekistan is projected to launch additional IPO offerings in the near future, which will reportedly involve specific standalone companies rather than consolidated funds. While proponents praise the growing influx of global capital into developing markets, financial analysts often express skepticism regarding the long-term sustainability and systemic risks associated with frontier market investments driven by external institutional enthusiasm.
