During the second international congress on pediatric cancer held in Samarkand, the creation of a new Global Network to support seriously ill children was officially announced. The initiative was reportedly unveiled by Carlos Rodriguez-Galindo, Vice President of the US-based St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and Director of St. Jude Global.

The newly formed network aims to unite first ladies and spouses of heads of state to foster international cooperation and experience sharing in treating life-threatening conditions. According to the Zamin Foundation, Uzbekistan's first lady and chairperson of the foundation's Board of Trustees, Ziroat Mirziyoyeva, has been elected as the chair of the network for a two-year term.

This year's congress is taking place as part of a broader global summit focused on investments in child welfare and sustainable development. The event gathered health sector leaders from several nations, representatives of the World Health Organization, international oncology societies, and experts from leading foreign medical centers.

Speaking at the conference, Ziroat Mirziyoyeva allegedly called upon the international community, governments, and humanitarian agencies to unite in taking urgent actions. She purportedly stated that illnesses recognize no political borders or nationalities, emphasizing that no child should face their struggle alone.

The event also featured students from the 'Mehrli Maktab' hospital school, an initiative designed to help long-term hospitalized children continue their education, who shared their personal stories of resilience.
