On November 7–8, the historic city of Samarkand is scheduled to host the Samarkand Marathon, marking the final stage of the Samarkand Marathon Series 2026. This announcement was reportedly made by the press service of the Art and Culture Development Foundation of Uzbekistan amid preparations for the large-scale event.
Organizers claim that international interest in the competition has surged significantly this year, with 1,583 foreign participants from 63 countries allegedly registered so far. The race will reportedly start at Registan Square, taking runners past the city's ancient architectural monuments along a scenic historical route. *
According to official statements, all proceeds collected from the charity run are purportedly directed toward the construction of children's sports grounds across the regions. The event will also feature the 'Avvalgidan tozaroq' ('Cleaner than before') environmental program, which allegedly aims to promote sustainability, waste recycling, and plogging activities among participants.
