A severe tragedy has unfolded in the Bagat district of the Khorezm region, resulting in the deaths of four members of a single family. According to Hayot Shamsutdinov, the press secretary for the General Prosecutor's Office, a mother and her three underage children perished following a severe incident of food poisoning, raising renewed concerns over domestic food safety.
Preliminary reports indicate that the family members consumed food left over from a birthday celebration held the previous day, October 8. Shortly after consuming the meal, they began displaying symptoms of acute poisoning. Local community representatives stated that the woman and her daughters had eaten a salad prepared for the celebration, while the father was away from home. The hazardous meal was allegedly prepared domestically.
Sources report that the eldest of the deceased children was only 7 years old, and the household had no other children. Such catastrophic outcomes highlight ongoing vulnerabilities regarding food storage practices and hygiene awareness among the population.
Forensic medical examinations have been officially ordered to determine the exact causes of death. Specialists from the regional emergency department, the Ministry of Health, and the Sanitary-Epidemiological Welfare and Public Health Service have been mobilized to conduct comprehensive inspections.
In connection with the incident, criminal proceedings were initiated on October 10 under relevant articles of the Criminal Code concerning the production, storage, or distribution of goods failing to meet safety requirements. Investigative actions are currently underway to establish all circumstances surrounding the event.
