Authorities in the Chim mahalla of the Kamashi district, Kashkadarya region, have channeled 55 billion soums toward infrastructure development, entrepreneurship support, and job creation. The implemented projects have facilitated the opening of new enterprises, provided employment opportunities for jobless residents, and significantly improved living conditions for more than 5,500 people.
President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the mahalla to inspect the outcomes of these investments firsthand. The head of state reviewed the newly established social and economic facilities and engaged in discussions with local residents, youth, and community leaders.
A substantial portion of the allocated funds was directed toward social infrastructure. Specifically, a new school for 640 pupils and a kindergarten with a 240-child capacity were constructed in Chim, alongside new mahalla and youth centers and a recreational park. Furthermore, 4.5 kilometers of roads were repaired, and local electricity and irrigation systems underwent comprehensive modernization.
In parallel, local business initiatives are being actively promoted within the community. Investments totaling 3.5 billion soums were injected into carpet weaving and embroidery ventures, providing employment primarily for women. Nearly 20 households established greenhouses covering a total area of 36 sotoks, while a 200-ton capacity cold storage facility was built to preserve agricultural goods.
Local residents are successfully cultivating lemons, potatoes, broccoli, and greens, supported by specialized advice, seedlings, and fertilizers, with yields purchased at guaranteed prices. Currently, Chim is home to 70 active entrepreneurs, with 20 newly opened enterprises further expanding local economic activity.
