The American company Wosune International reportedly plans to scale up its investments in fruit and vegetable processing within the Kashkadarya region to 50 million dollars. This announcement was allegedly made by a company representative during the visit of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the Wosune Food Ingredients Karshi enterprise, located within the Kashkadarya Free Economic Zone. The initial phase of the food ingredient manufacturing project involved an investment of 8.5 million dollars, with subsequent phases aiming to reach the aforementioned total.
According to the investors, the facility utilizes vegetable dehydration techniques to manufacture high-grade products intended to meet stringent international standards. The resulting goods are supposedly destined for markets in the United States, Indonesia, and European nations, supplying major global brands such as Nestlé and Mars. The plant processes carrots, bell peppers, pumpkins, apples, spinach, and various greens, which are utilized in instant soups, seasonings, conserves, and cosmetic goods.
Approximately 30 percent of the manufacturing processes are automated, and the enterprise has reportedly generated 150 permanent jobs. Once operating at full capacity, the facility is claimed to be capable of processing up to 310 tons of raw materials daily, targeting an annual turnover of 40 million dollars. However, independent verification of the projected export figures and formal supply contracts remains limited.
During the inspection of the plant, authorities discussed securing local raw material supplies and enhancing cooperation with regional farmers. The leadership underscored the necessity of organizing export-oriented agricultural production across 30,000 hectares, establishing direct agreements with local growers, and upgrading water supply infrastructure to support long-term regional development.
