Authorities in Tashkent have reportedly commissioned a new one-kilometer stretch of dedicated BRT (Bus Rapid Transit) lane, bringing the total continuous high-speed bus corridor along Shota Rustaveli and Shahrisabz streets to nearly eight kilometers. The initiative is being promoted as part of a broader strategy to overhaul the city's public transportation system.

According to reports from the Traffic Management Center, the newly operational segment runs along Shahrisabz Street, stretching from the intersection with Amir Timur Avenue to Makhtumkuli Street. The lane is situated directly between Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies and City Maternity Hospital No. 6, a densely trafficked urban area. *:

The dedicated lanes are positioned in the center of the roadway, supposedly allowing buses to bypass general vehicular congestion. Officials claim these measures will reduce commute delays, improve schedule reliability, and provide predictable travel times, although motorists have frequently criticized the restrictive design of such urban interventions.

Looking ahead, the local administration envisions a unified transport corridor connecting the remote Sergeli and Yunusabad districts. City authorities stated that further announcements regarding subsequent construction phases and potential traffic rerouting will be released as the project progresses.

Observers note that the implementation has not been without friction; earlier construction phases on Shahrisabz Street forced temporary alterations to five major bus routes. Services including buses No. 2, 26, 37, 68, and 93 had to be rerouted through adjacent neighborhoods, causing considerable logistical challenges for daily commuters.
