A sudden rockslide occurred on the 75V040 highway in the Uzun district of Uzbekistan's southern Surkhandarya region. The incident reportedly took place in the early hours of October 24, at approximately 03:30 local time, affecting the section between the 21st and 22nd kilometers of the road.
According to the regional administration, emergency response teams from the district department of emergency situations, alongside state road maintenance workers and heavy machinery, were promptly deployed to the site. Thanks to the swift clearance operations, the blocked road section was completely cleared of rocks and debris by 07:30.
Official reports confirm that there were no casualties or injuries resulting from the natural hazard, and no vehicles were reported damaged. Normal traffic flow along the affected mountain route has been fully restored, ensuring safe passage for commuters and freight.
This incident follows a previous severe weather event in the neighboring Kashkadarya region, where a flash flood swept away a Damas vehicle carrying two people. While the driver managed to escape, the passenger tragically lost their life in the disaster.
