State financing for film production in Uzbekistan has reportedly multiplied by more than twenty times over the past decade, according to statements made by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev during a meeting with representatives of the national film industry at the historic 'Uzbekfilm' studio.

Official figures indicate that while only 10 billion soums were allocated from the state budget for filmmaking back in 2016, this figure has supposedly surged to 218 billion soums by 2026. This financial expansion has been implemented as part of a broader set of state-mandated measures aimed at reviving the domestic cinematography sector.

Over the past ten years, authorities have adopted two presidential decrees and eight resolutions intended to stimulate the industry. Proponents claim these bureaucratic measures have facilitated the proliferation of dozens of private film studios and improved the overall output of local cinematic works.

During the discussions, the leadership emphasized the role of national cinema in preserving historical and cultural narratives, referencing classic Soviet-era Uzbek films. Furthermore, officials highlighted the extensive reconstruction of the 'Uzbekfilm' facilities, which were previously described as being in severe disrepair before undergoing state-backed renovations.
