Law enforcement authorities in the Uzbek capital have shut down an illegal underground brewery operating in a residential building within Tashkent's Mirzo-Ulugbek district. Officers confiscated 22 different types of homemade beer that completely failed basic safety and health standards and posed serious health risks to consumers.

The illicit facility was uncovered during a targeted joint raid conducted by officers of the Department for Combating Economic Crimes under the General Prosecutor’s Office of Tashkent, alongside other security agencies. Investigators determined that a local Tashkent resident, acting in collusion with accomplices, had set up the unauthorized brewing site inside a residential property located on Salar Boyi Street.

A search of the premises led to the seizure of 22 varieties of bottled alcoholic beverages, along with brewing ingredients, raw chemical materials, and makeshift production equipment. Official agency reports stated that the manufactured liquid was completely unfit for human consumption due to hazardous deviations from sanitary requirements.

A criminal case has been formally initiated under statutory provisions penalizing the production and distribution of goods that fail to meet consumer safety standards. An extensive investigation is underway to determine the operational timeline of the venture, track down potential distribution networks across the city, and identify all conspirators involved. This bust follows a similar operation recently reported in Uzbekistan's Fergana Region, where authorities shut down an illegal alcohol workshop churning out counterfeit branded spirits.
