International air connectivity within the region is set to expand with the introduction of a new direct route. Starting November 25, the Russian carrier Nordwind Airlines reportedly plans to launch direct flights connecting Kazan and Fergana, allowing travelers to bypass traditional layovers when commuting between Tatarstan and the Fergana Valley.

According to the schedule, operations will be conducted once a week on Wednesdays utilizing Airbus A321 aircraft. The estimated flight duration is said to be around three and a half hours, which organizers claim will streamline travel for individuals visiting relatives or undertaking business trips.

The establishment of this air link is the purported outcome of negotiations held between Uzbekistan Airports and the airline, including discussions at the NETWORK 2026 aviation forum in Moscow. Fergana will thus become the fourth destination in the country served by Nordwind from Kazan, following previously launched routes to Tashkent, Samarkand, and Namangan.
