The leadership of Uzbekistan has reportedly put forward a series of sweeping initiatives aimed at deepening integration within the Organization of Turkic States (OTS). During the OTS summit in Ankara, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev allegedly proposed facilitating regional travel by expanding the use of internal ID cards for border crossings among member states, seeking to foster closer interpersonal and economic ties.

According to the stated proposals, the participating nations are supposedly expected to develop a multilateral agreement designed to ease travel restrictions and streamline residency procedures across the bloc. Furthermore, the initiative includes the creation of a purported Turkic States Tourism Alliance intended to jointly promote historical landmarks and cultural heritage. However, critics and regional analysts remain skeptical regarding the practical execution of such expansive agreements, pointing to persistent legislative discrepancies and administrative friction among the member countries.

Although bilateral documents concerning preferential trade and cargo information exchange were previously signed between Uzbekistan and Turkey, broader integration efforts continue to face significant structural hurdles. The realization of a unified travel space remains fraught with bureaucratic delays and differing national security priorities, casting doubt on the immediate efficacy of the proposed measures.
