The State Assets Management Agency of Uzbekistan has reportedly put a student dormitory building in Tashkent's Almazar district up for public auction, according to listings published on the E-auksion electronic trading platform. The property is located at 2 Talabalar Street in the Ubekt Ziyo mahalla, close to the Small Ring Road intersection. The building is part of a four-dormitory complex and currently houses dormitory No. 2 of the Tashkent State Law University (TSLU).
Technical documentation indicates that the total area of the buildings and structures covers 8,972 square meters, while the land plot spans 1.02 hectares. The facility is fully equipped with essential utilities, including water, gas, electricity, and sewage systems. The auction for this lot is scheduled for November 4. The starting price of the property has been set at 195.66 billion soums, with a required security deposit amounting to 3 percent of the starting price, or 5.87 billion soums.
The privatization of the asset is allegedly based on a Cabinet of Ministers decree issued on July 2, 2026. However, the document was supposedly adopted under a classified procedure and is not publicly available in the lex.uz national legislation database. A crucial condition of the sale is that the property will be handed over to the new owner only at a later date, specifically after the state organizations currently occupying the building vacate the premises upon relocating to TSLU's modern campus.
The auction terms reportedly do not specify an exact date when the building will be vacated. Construction of the new TSLU campus was previously outlined in a presidential decree from November 2025, with the project slated for implementation in New Tashkent between 2025 and 2028 using funding from international financial institutions and foreign banks. A foundation stone laying ceremony for the new university buildings took place in New Tashkent in October 2026.
