According to the 'Dunyo' news agency, the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Japan hosted an official meeting with Yoshi Higashida, General Director of the Energy Projects Finance Department at the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC). The talks focused on expanding financial cooperation and attracting Japanese investments into key strategic sectors of the Uzbek economy.

During the discussions, it was proposed to explore JBIC's participation in financing the state-partner share for the ambitious 'Yangi Tashkent' international airport project. Additionally, the parties exchanged views on the potential establishment of operations in Uzbekistan by major Japanese financial institutions, including MUFG, SMBC, and Mizuho.

The agenda also covered leveraging JBIC's support to attract Japanese industrial corporations to the upcoming special economic zones planned across Uzbekistan. As a result of the negotiations, a preliminary agreement was reached to clarify priority sectors and project types for the bank, as well as to jointly develop specific initiatives meeting the institution's funding criteria.

Special emphasis during the meetings was placed on the infrastructure development of 'Yangi Tashkent'. The participants reviewed opportunities for implementing joint projects in electricity supply, centralized heating systems, water and wastewater infrastructure, urban transportation, and engineering-communication networks.
