Ulugbek Yuldashev, dean of the translation faculty at the Uzbekistan State World Languages University, has reportedly been dismissed from his post following a controversial incident involving the mandatory installation of the "Havfsiz talaba" mobile application, which sparked widespread student discontent.

University Rector Ilhomjon Tukhtasinov and Otabek Ibragimov, an adviser to the rector on information policy, allegedly confirmed the removal of Yuldashev from his leadership position amid mounting public scrutiny over the university's administrative methods.

The situation reportedly came to light in early November when students from multiple higher education institutions complained that academic staff and tutors demanded the mandatory downloading of the app both at campus entry points and during ongoing lectures, occasionally halting classes to enforce compliance.

According to affected students, individuals were blocked from entering buildings, leading to unjustified attendance penalties, while deans and deputies reportedly patrolled classrooms to monitor compliance. The Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Innovations supposedly initiated a working group to investigate the complaints and verify whether educational continuity and student rights were compromised.

While the application is officially marketed as a safety tool featuring emergency response options, the enforcement measures implemented by university staff raised serious legal and ethical questions regarding personal privacy and institutional overreach.
