In Tashkent, in the Yashnobod district, an assistant to the district head was arrested while receiving a bribe. This was reported by the State Security Service (SSS). The operational measures were conducted jointly by employees of the SSS Tashkent City Directorate and the Department for Combating Economic Crimes under the General Prosecutor's Office.

It was established that the assistant to the district head on issues of entrepreneurship development, employment provision, and poverty reduction at one of the mahalla citizens' gatherings promised a citizen wishing to start a business to help obtain permission to transfer a residential premises on the first floor of a multi-story building to non-residential status. In return, he demanded 5,000 US dollars. During the operational measure, he was caught red-handed while receiving this sum.

During the pre-investigation check, it was also revealed that to assist the citizen, the head of a department of the Yashnobod district administration was involved. The operational measure was continued, and this official was also arrested while receiving 600 US dollars.

Regarding this case, a criminal case has been initiated against them under Articles 168, as well as 28 and 211 of the Criminal Code, and detention as a preventive measure has been applied. Investigative actions are currently underway. This incident demonstrates the activity of state bodies in combating corruption, but at the same time exposes the persistence of corruption issues within the local governance system.
