In a shocking incident in the central English city of Derby, a car drove into a group of pedestrians on Saturday evening, leaving seven people with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. According to Derbyshire Police, the crash occurred around 9:30 p.m. local time on Friar Gate, where a black Suzuki Swift struck several individuals.
The seven injured individuals were treated by ambulance crews at the scene before being transported to Royal Derby Hospital and Queen's Medical Center in nearby Nottingham. Police confirmed that the injuries, while severe, are stable and not considered critical.
Shortly after the incident, a man in his 30s, originally from India, was located and arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, causing serious injury by dangerous driving, inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent, and dangerous driving. The suspect remains in police custody as investigations continue.
