A horrific incident occurred at a daycare center in Uganda's capital, Kampala, on Thursday, resulting in the deaths of four young children. Local police confirmed that a male suspect, who gained entry to the "Ggaba Early Childhood Development Program" kindergarten in the upmarket Ggaba district by posing as a parent, stabbed and killed four toddlers aged between two and three years old.

Upon arrival at the scene, police and military personnel fired warning shots into the air to disperse angry crowds before apprehending the suspect. A police spokeswoman stated: "We confirm a tragic incident at the Ggaba Early Childhood Development Program school in Makindye Division, Kampala City, where a male suspect brutally stabbed and killed four juveniles," adding that the children had "died on the spot."

Preliminary police investigations revealed that the man had visited the kindergarten on two previous days, attempting to enroll his own child. He reportedly returned on Thursday, spoke with the daycare director, paid admission fees for his child, and then launched the stabbing attack. The police spokeswoman noted: "The motive behind the killings is still under investigation."

Inspector General of Police Abas Byakagaba attended the scene and called for calm, urging: "We call upon anyone with information about the suspect to contact police and aid in investigations." Videos circulating on social media showed distressed parents outside the cordoned-off nursery, anxiously seeking news about their children and demanding their release.

According to local media reports, 14 children were present at the kindergarten during the attack. Police confirmed that the bodies of the four victims had been taken to a mortuary, while the other ten children had been reunited with their parents. The suspected assailant remains in police custody, with his motives still unclear as investigations continue.
