Turkey has been shaken by bloody tragedies in educational institutions over two days. A shooting at the Ayser Chalik Secondary School in the city of Kahramanmaras resulted in 9 fatalities. The incident was officially confirmed to journalists by the country's Interior Minister, Mustafa Chiftci.

The armed attack claimed the lives of a teacher and 8 students. Another 13 people sustained injuries of varying severity, with doctors assessing the condition of 6 victims as critical. Medical teams in local clinics are currently fighting to save the lives of the wounded.

The investigation revealed that the shooter was a 14-year-old teenager, an eighth-grade student at the same school. Preliminary findings indicate the minor used a weapon belonging to his father, a retired security officer. Law enforcement agencies are now investigating how the underage individual gained access to the firearm.

This incident marks the second school shooting in Turkey within the last 48 hours. A day earlier, a similar attack occurred in the city of Siverek in the east of the country, located 250 kilometers from Kahramanmaras. There, a former high school student opened fire with a pump-action shotgun, injuring 16 people before taking his own life. The series of tragedies has sparked widespread public outcry and debates on tightening controls over weapon storage in families of security personnel.
