The President of Uzbekistan stated that ensuring the sustainability of interconnected transport systems and logistics corridors is becoming one of the most pressing tasks amid global challenges. Rising costs and delivery delays are forcing the region to seek new solutions, with a focus on railways and digitalization.
According to the head of state, changes in the international situation have already led to significant consequences for Central Asian countries: freight costs have increased by up to 30%, and delivery times have extended by several weeks.
A key response to these challenges will be the implementation of the strategic railway project “China – Kyrgyzstan – Uzbekistan,” construction of which has already begun. The new transport corridor is expected to significantly enhance the region's transit potential.
It is anticipated that the route will reduce delivery times to 10 days, with annual cargo volume reaching 15 million tons.
Additionally, the president proposed the creation of a “Digital Customs and Logistics Alliance” under the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) program. This initiative aims to simplify border procedures and improve transport efficiency.
Specifically, it involves harmonizing customs rules, introducing digital document flow, and easing cross-border logistics.
The comprehensive measures are expected not only to reduce business costs but also to strengthen Central Asia's position as a key transit hub between East and West.
Earlier, it was reported that Russia offered Uzbekistan its technologies and experience to create a network of high-speed railways and is ready to participate in developing the country's modern transport infrastructure.
