A dead whale has been spotted off the Danish island of Anholt, with the Danish Environmental Protection Agency believing it has been dead for some time, according to Danish media.
The animal is believed to be a humpback whale 10 to 15 meters long, sparking speculation over whether it could be Timmy, the humpback that captivated Germany for weeks after multiple strandings.
Timmy was first spotted off Germany's Baltic coast in March and was rescued several times. A final rescue mission in May guided him to the North Sea, about 70 km off the Danish coast.
Danish authorities have said they do not plan any rescue efforts, calling beaching a "completely natural phenomenon" and stating that whales should not be "saved or disturbed by human intervention."
