At least 20 people were injured in Russian drone and missile strikes on Ukrainian cities overnight, local authorities reported Monday. Residential buildings, a school, and a kindergarten were hit in Odesa, according to Serhiy Lysak, head of the regional military administration.
In Dnipro, 18 people were wounded, including a child, regional governor Oleksandr Hanzha said on Telegram. Ukraine's air force reported that Russia launched 524 drones and 22 missiles, with air defense intercepting 503 drones.
The strikes follow a weekend of massive Ukrainian drone attacks on Russian territory, including the Moscow region. On Friday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy vowed retaliation after a deadly Russian attack on Kyiv killed 24 people.
Zelenskyy claimed Ukraine's long-range capabilities are "significantly changing the situation," adding that "the war is returning to its native harbor." The reported strikes cannot be independently verified.
Meanwhile, Russia's Rostov Oblast governor Yuri Slyusar said air attacks were repelled in Taganrog, Kamensky, and Azov districts, with drones destroyed. These claims also lack independent confirmation.
