The New York Knicks erased a 22-point fourth-quarter deficit to defeat the Cleveland Cavaliers 115-104 in overtime in Game 1 of the NBA Eastern Conference finals.

Jalen Brunson scored 38 points, leading the comeback. Down 93-71 with 7:52 left, the Knicks went on an 18-1 run, and Brunson tied the game at 101-101 with a floater with 19.3 seconds remaining.

After Cleveland's Sam Merrill missed a three-pointer, the game went to overtime, where the Knicks scored the first nine points. Brunson said: "I don't have an answer for you. We kept fighting, kept believing, just kept chipping away."

Mikal Bridges added 18 points, and OG Anunoby returned from injury with 13 points. Donovan Mitchell led the Cavaliers with 29 points, and James Harden added 15.

Game 2 is Thursday in New York. The series winner will face either the Oklahoma City Thunder or San Antonio Spurs in the NBA Finals.
