The United States and Iran have exchanged new military strikes as tensions continue to escalate in the Middle East. According to US military sources, American forces destroyed four Iranian drones and struck a drone control station near the southern Iranian city of Bandar Abbas.
In retaliation, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) reportedly opened fire on a US oil tanker attempting to transit the Strait of Hormuz, according to the Iranian Tasnim news agency. The vessel was forced to alter course and turn back after the incident.
Additionally, the IRGC claimed to have struck one of the US military bases in the region. The exact location of the targeted facility was not disclosed by Iranian authorities.
Amid reports of the attack, the Kuwaiti army announced that its air defense systems had been activated to intercept missiles and drones.
Iranian military officials warned that any further "aggression" would be met with a "more decisive response." Tehran placed responsibility for any potential consequences on the "aggressor."
