The US Central Command (CENTCOM) reported that American forces, together with air defense systems from Kuwait and Bahrain, intercepted six out of seven ballistic missiles launched by Iran towards Arab states in the Persian Gulf.

The attack occurred hours after US forces destroyed four Iranian kamikaze drones heading toward the Strait of Hormuz and conducted retaliatory strikes against Iranian coastal radar stations in Goruk and on Qeshm Island.

The Iranian assault triggered air raid sirens in Bahrain, home to the US Fifth Fleet headquarters. Bahrain's Foreign Ministry issued a strong condemnation, calling the actions "blatant aggression" and "a gross violation of sovereignty" contrary to UN Security Council Resolution 2817.

Iran's Tasnim news agency, citing the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, confirmed the use of aerospace missiles against "enemy bases in the region." However, CENTCOM dismissed Iranian claims of successfully striking the Fifth Fleet headquarters as false, stating the seventh missile missed its target and no US personnel were harmed.

According to The Guardian, the escalation unfolded amid a US-enforced blockade of Iranian ports in response to Tehran's attempts to disrupt shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, which has already caused a sharp rise in global energy prices. Kuwaiti forces also detected hostile drones in their airspace, days after a missile strike on Kuwait International Airport killed one person.

Al Jazeera reported that Iranian authorities demand linking any 60-day extension of the ceasefire agreement to the situation in Lebanon, where, according to the Lebanese Health Ministry, 3,558 people have been killed by ongoing Israeli strikes since March 2.

President Donald Trump acknowledged the difficulty of negotiations in an NBC interview, citing Iran's "great independence," but noted that Tehran has lost most of its military capability, retaining only about 21-22% of its original missile arsenal.
