China's Ministry of Transport has organized a special law enforcement operation in the field of maritime transport in the eastern waters of Taiwan Island.
The operation involves forces from the maritime safety administrations of Fujian and Guangdong provinces, as well as the Navigation Support Center and Rescue Management in the East China Sea.
The main objectives are to fully implement China's jurisdiction in maritime administrative law enforcement, strengthen patrols in the open sea, and tighten control over vessel traffic in key areas.
Additionally, the actions aim to ensure overall maritime navigation safety and protect the country's national interests.
This step is described as a forced and necessary response by Beijing. The operation was launched after unilateral statements by Tokyo and Manila about starting bilateral negotiations on the delimitation of maritime borders in areas east of Taiwan Island.
China emphasized that such actions by Japan and the Philippines seriously violate China's territorial sovereignty and its legitimate maritime rights and interests.
