A court in Samarkand has sentenced a truck driver to 6 years in prison for hitting and killing a 14-year-old girl. The incident occurred on February 10 at around 2:15 PM in the Temiryo‘lchilar neighborhood.

The minor was riding a bicycle with her brother. She lost control on an internal road, collided with a parked car, and fell onto the roadway. A passing truck ran over her, and she died at the scene from severe injuries.

The victim's mother said: “I was at work when they called me and said my daughter had been in an accident.”

The investigation revealed that the 26-year-old driver had previously been held liable for traffic violations. Additionally, he was driving on a road where truck traffic was prohibited. The court concluded that the driver had the technical capability to stop the vehicle and avoid the accident.

The driver was found guilty under Article 266, Part 2 of the Criminal Code (Violation of traffic safety or vehicle operation rules resulting in death) and sentenced to 6 years of imprisonment, with a 3-year ban on driving. He was also ordered to pay 20 million soums in material damages and 120 million soums in moral damages to the victim's family.
