UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer will host Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, French President Emmanuel Macron, and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz at Downing Street on Sunday for talks on European support for Ukraine. The meeting comes amid heightened tensions and recent Russian strikes.

Ahead of the summit, Kyiv officials reported that a Russian drone struck a spent nuclear fuel storage facility near the Chornobyl nuclear plant in northern Ukraine. The fire was extinguished with no injuries, and radiation levels remain stable. Zelensky condemned the attack as a deliberate and "vile Russian strike."

Separately, at least three people were killed in a Russian strike on a village outside Zaporizhzhia in southeastern Ukraine. The region has faced relentless Russian attacks, with at least two deaths reported on Saturday alone.

Ukraine's state nuclear operator Enerhoatom said the strike "partially destroyed" the spent fuel storage building, but no injuries occurred and radiation levels are normal. The operator criticized Moscow for deliberately threatening nuclear safety, echoing Zelensky's condemnation.

Zelensky detailed Russian overnight strikes across 13 regions, claiming Moscow launched 88 missiles, over 3,250 drones, and 1,800 guided bombs in the past week. On Saturday, Ukraine targeted St. Petersburg in what Russian authorities described as an "unprecedented" drone attack.

The three Western powers—the E3 group—are among Kyiv's strongest allies. The UK and France lead the "coalition of the willing" initiative to provide security guarantees for Ukraine as part of a future peace process. Previous talks in London occurred in December when the US was pushing for a quick truce.

On Friday, Putin rejected Zelensky's proposal for face-to-face talks, stating he saw no point in meeting. Zelensky had sent an open letter calling for direct negotiations. Putin reiterated that a truce would only allow Ukraine to regroup and said he would end the war only when Russia's goals are met.
