Three night matches took place at the World Cup, with France, Norway, and Argentina emerging victorious. The stars of the tournament—Kylian Mbappe, Erling Haaland, and Lionel Messi—were the key figures.

France began their campaign with a 3-1 win over Senegal in Group I. Mbappe scored a brace, while Michael Olise added another goal. Senegal replied through former Liverpool player Sadio Mane.

In the same group, Norway thrashed Iraq 4-1. Haaland scored twice in his World Cup debut, as Norway returned to the tournament after a 28-year absence. Iraq, absent for 40 years, could only respond with a goal from Aymen Hussein.

Argentina comfortably defeated Algeria 3-0 in Group J. The reigning world champions controlled the game, with 38-year-old Messi scoring a hat-trick. Argentina immediately staked their claim for group leadership.

Earlier, Spain surprisingly dropped points against Cape Verde in a 0-0 draw in Group H, the first goalless match of the tournament.
