Colombia national team head coach Nestor Lorenzo has praised Uzbekistan ahead of their World Cup match, stating that no opponent should be underestimated in the tournament.

'World Cups show that there are no small teams. Uzbekistan is a team that has achieved good results against strong opponents. They have an excellent coach, four or five high-level players, and most importantly, they are an organized team that knows exactly how they play,' Lorenzo said.

Lorenzo noted that Uzbekistan operates well in a low block, can defend with three or five defenders, launches dangerous counterattacks, and is effective from set pieces.

'They are a very disciplined team that we must be cautious against. They have a clear style. To counter this, we need to control the ball, find free spaces, and break lines. We will need patience and aggression in finishing attacks,' he added.

The coach emphasized that Colombia's tactical plan for the game is ready. The team understands how to act in defense and attack, and winning individual duels will be a key factor.

Lorenzo also commented on James Rodriguez's condition, saying the player is in good shape and gradually gaining form. 'James's talent allows him to bring clarity to the game and decide important moments,' he stated.

Regarding team morale, Lorenzo said the players fully understand their responsibility to the country. 'My message to the team is always the same: enjoy the game, be grateful, and give your life on the field for the Colombia shirt. We returned to the World Cup after eight years, with great expectations and a huge desire to show ourselves,' he said.

Lorenzo also confirmed that all 26 players are in good condition, with John Cordoba returning to training and ready to play.

He spoke about Luis Diaz, for whom this World Cup is his first. Lorenzo noted that Diaz approaches the tournament with great enthusiasm and is expected to have a strong tournament. 'Every player who comes to the World Cup remembers their childhood dream. Lucho is exactly that,' the coach said.

In conclusion, Lorenzo stressed that Colombia wants to display its style and character at the World Cup. 'Colombia is joy. Our people need a reason to smile, and the team wants to play well precisely for that,' he concluded.

The Uzbekistan vs. Colombia match will take place on June 18 at 07:00 Tashkent time.
