The death toll from the devastating earthquake in Venezuela has risen to 235, according to Health Minister Carlos Alvarado. Over 4,300 injured have received medical assistance.

Most of the injured suffered minor injuries, but there are also serious cases. The hardest-hit area is La Guaira state, where field hospitals operated by the armed forces and the Red Cross are working. A national emergency response mechanism has been activated, with more than 5,000 medical workers deployed to affected areas.

Two series of tremors with magnitudes of 7.2 and 7.5 struck off the coast of Venezuela overnight. The epicenters were located 16 kilometers from the city of Morón and 24 kilometers from San Felipe.

Eight hospitals, 20 shopping centers, and 68 infrastructure facilities have been damaged. 250 buildings have been damaged or destroyed. This earthquake is the strongest in the country in 126 years.
