President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has been awarded the Order of the Golden Fleece, Georgia's highest state decoration. The award was personally presented by Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili in Tbilisi.
The order was established in 1998 and is conferred for outstanding services in strengthening ties with foreign states and international organizations, as well as for promoting Georgian culture, science, and art.
Mirziyoyev received the honor for his contribution to deepening Uzbek-Georgian relations.
Previous recipients include Queen Elizabeth II, King Abdullah II of Jordan, German Chancellor Gerhard Schröder, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Azerbaijani President Heydar Aliyev, and others.
Mirziyoyev arrived in Georgia today for an official visit.
