Tashkent, Uzbekistan – Podrobno.uz. Portugal's national team defeated Croatia 2-1 in a dramatic round of 32 match at the World Cup.

All goals came in the second half: Ivan Perišić put Croatia ahead in the 53rd minute, Cristiano Ronaldo equalized from the penalty spot in the 68th minute, and Gonçalo Ramos scored the winner in the 90+4th minute.

The match ended in controversy as Croatia scored after Ramos' goal, but the effort was disallowed by VAR for offside.

For Ronaldo, this was his first goal in a World Cup knockout stage. The 41-year-old forward continues his quest for the only major trophy missing from his career.

In the round of 16, Portugal will face Spain. Croatia, a finalist in 2018 and bronze medalist in 2022, has been eliminated from the tournament.

Earlier, Spain thrashed Austria to advance to the next round of the 2026 World Cup.
