Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has announced that Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko will soon step down, citing a change in the country's political strategy.

In a Telegram post, Zelensky stated that each priority foreign policy direction will now be overseen by a specific individual with extensive experience, capable of implementing agreements reached at the leadership level and delivering results expected by the Ukrainian people.

Key directions include cooperation with the United States (including licensing agreements for the production of Patriot systems), defense cooperation with the European Union, and Ukraine's EU accession process.

Relations with neighboring countries, particularly Poland and Hungary, need to be rebuilt on a new basis. The Middle East and Gulf region are seen as one of the most promising global regions for security and economic cooperation.

Work with China and key international organizations that can influence global decisions and help end Russia's war against Ukraine was also mentioned.

The same principle will apply to domestic affairs, Zelensky said. He noted that frontline and border regions are under daily Russian attacks, requiring a significant strengthening of efforts there. He expects an increase in the supply of all types of weapons and drones to the army.

Winter preparation and accelerating the transformation of state companies are also important areas. Therefore, personnel changes will begin in the country.

Zelensky thanked Svyrydenko for her work as prime minister and offered her a new role leading a key area in relations with one of Ukraine's main partners. The prime minister's resignation entails the resignation of the entire Cabinet of Ministers.

Changes in the leadership of law enforcement agencies are also expected. Yulia Svyrydenko became prime minister in July 2025, previously serving as First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy. She replaced Denys Shmyhal, who became Defense Minister and later Deputy Prime Minister and Energy Minister. Ukrainian media do not rule out Shmyhal's return to the post of prime minister.
