French DJ Vincent Belorgey, known professionally as Kavinsky, was found dead at his home in Paris on Tuesday evening, French prosecutors confirmed Wednesday. An inquiry has been opened to determine the cause of death, with no suspicious elements found at the scene.

The musician, who would have turned 51 on Friday, was best known for his 2010 single 'Nightcall', featured in the 2011 film 'Drive' and performed at the closing ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympics.

French Culture Minister Catherine Pegard paid tribute on social media, saying: 'With the sudden loss of Kavinsky, France has lost one of her more unique voices. Simultaneously danceable and nostalgic, his music will continue to resonate across generations and borders.'

Kavinsky was known for his persona of a character who died in a car crash and returned as an undead DJ with blue skin and red eyes. 'Showing my own face holds absolutely no interest for me,' he said in a 2007 interview.

A self-taught pianist, he launched his career in the early 2000s, supporting acts like Daft Punk and collaborating with SebastiAn.
