️ Diego Maradona's masseur, Nicolas Taffarel, testified on Thursday at the trial into the death of the Argentine football legend, revealing that the 1986 World Cup winner was bedridden, suffering from edema, and appeared resigned to his fate in his final days.

️ Taffarel told the court that Maradona “wouldn't get out of bed, he didn't want to eat, he didn't want to wash, he didn't want to look after his personal hygiene.” He claimed he had alerted the medical team to the need for daily visits, but his warnings were ignored.

️ “I reported the issues I observed with him, but I saw no concrete action or swift resolution,” the masseur added, visibly emotional. He described Maradona as “bloated, with swollen legs,” and said doctors assured him the symptoms would pass, but they never did.

️ The day before Maradona's death on November 24, Taffarel tried to persuade him to drink mate, but Maradona replied, “I don't want anything, Taffita, that's it.” The masseur noted the ambiguity of “ya esta,” which can mean “it's all right” or “it's over.”

️ Maradona died alone in bed at age 60 of heart failure and acute pulmonary edema, two weeks after surgery. Seven healthcare professionals face up to 25 years in prison for alleged negligence, but they deny responsibility, citing their limited roles. The trial may extend beyond this month.
