Oman's Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi said on Friday that Iran agreed during indirect talks with the United States never to stockpile enriched uranium, describing it as a "major breakthrough".
In an interview with CBS News, Al Busaidi stated: "A peace deal is in our hands... if we just allow diplomacy the space it needs to get there". He added that Iran would degrade its current nuclear material stockpiles to "the lowest level possible" and convert them into fuel.
"This is something completely new. It makes the enrichment argument less relevant, because now we are talking about zero stockpiling," he said.
U.S. President Donald Trump said on Friday he was "not exactly happy" with the recent talks in Geneva but favored a diplomatic solution. Iranian and U.S. sides are expected to hold further indirect negotiations on Monday in Vienna.
