US President Donald Trump announced on Saturday that the United States has launched a large-scale operation against Iran.

Trump stated on Truth Social: "US armed forces have begun major combat operations in Iran."

He said the operation aims to protect the American people and military infrastructure abroad by "eliminating the threat" posed by Iranian authorities. Trump emphasized that Tehran's actions pose a direct danger to US bases in the region.

On Saturday, Israel struck Iran. Targets included an intelligence building, the presidential complex, Tehran airport, and the home of Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei.

Previously, it was reported that the US had significantly increased its military presence near Iran. Following the inconclusive second round of nuclear talks between Washington and Tehran on February 17, the Pentagon deployed over 150 aircraft to bases in Europe and the Middle East.

Additionally, on February 23, the aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford was spotted off the coast of the Greek island of Crete. This is the second US aircraft carrier sent to the region. According to media estimates, about one-third of active US ships are now concentrated in the Middle East.
