US President Donald Trump has officially confirmed the start of a large-scale military operation against Iran, conducted jointly with Israel, aimed at eliminating an "immediate threat" and preventing Tehran from acquiring nuclear weapons.
In an emergency address, Trump demanded that Iranian forces immediately lay down their arms, threatening "inevitable death," and stated that the Iranian people now have a "sole chance to overthrow the regime."
Massive strikes from air and sea have targeted critical facilities in Tehran and other regions, including buildings of the Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Intelligence, the residence of Ali Khamenei, and the Atomic Energy Organization.
The intensive combined attacks aim to completely destroy Iran's missile industry and naval forces, with high-ranking Israeli sources stating the operation will last four days. Numerous explosions have been reported in Tehran and Isfahan, where a nuclear center is located, leading to near-total disruption of cellular and internet services in the capital.
According to Israeli defense officials, the operation was planned for several months, with the exact date of the joint action finalized weeks ago.
Amid reports of US Tomahawk missiles flying through Iraqi airspace, the airspace of Iran and Israel has been completely closed.
Flightradar data indicates that a Tashkent-Dubai flight by Qanot Sharq Airlines, departing from Tashkent, was forced to return due to the closure of Iranian airspace.
Air raid sirens have also been activated over Israel, with preliminary reports suggesting Iran has launched missiles.
Iran's top leadership, including Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and President Masoud Pezeshkian, was urgently evacuated to secure locations and safe houses immediately after the initial attacks began.
Official Tehran has already promised a "crushing" retaliatory strike in the near future.
