A shooting occurred outside the İnci Üzmez Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School in the Turgutlu district of Manisa province, Turkey, at approximately 08:00 local time. The T24 news outlet reported that a shotgun was used in the attack near the educational facility, resulting in multiple injuries.

According to preliminary information, the suspect is a 15-year-old student. Eight students were injured, two of whom are in serious condition. The victims are teenagers aged between 14 and 17. The motive behind the attack remains unknown, and an investigation is ongoing.

After the shooting, the attacker attempted to flee but was apprehended. Law enforcement officers are working at the scene, and the suspect's identity is being established. Local authorities have so far declined to comment on the incident.

This incident follows a series of school shootings in Turkey. In April 2026, shootings took place at a school and a high school in the Şanlıurfa and Kahramanmaraş provinces. In the first incident, 16 people were injured; in the second, 9 were killed and 13 wounded.

Following those events, protests erupted in Turkey demanding the resignation of the education minister, and officials claimed that security measures in schools had been tightened. However, today's attack indicates that the measures taken have been insufficient.
