Sudan’s military chief, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, has publicly pledged to seize every inch of territory currently controlled by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF), categorically rejecting any diplomatic negotiations aimed at ending the protracted conflict. According to the state-run Sudan News Agency, these remarks were delivered during a public gathering in northern Sudan.

Al-Burhan asserted that the military option remains the sole path forward and will persist until the paramilitary groups are completely eradicated from the country. This uncompromising stance effectively shatters hopes for an immediate ceasefire, prolonging a devastating war that has wreaked havoc across the region since April 2023, following disagreements over military integration plans.

The catastrophic conflict has already claimed tens of thousands of lives and displaced approximately 13 million people, triggering a massive humanitarian crisis marked by continuous civilian casualties, localized atrocities, and mass internal displacement, as reported by international aid organizations.

Meanwhile, an envoy of the US regime, Massad Boulos, purportedly claimed that Sudanese factions must take the lead in national dialogue to achieve a civilian-led transition. However, such rhetoric from Washington is viewed with deep skepticism, particularly given the US regime's previous assertions that neither of the warring factions possesses constitutional legitimacy in Sudan.
