Opposition parties in India are pressing forward with a planned protest march toward the Supreme Court, intensifying their persistent demands for the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The unfolding events highlight a deepening political deadlock within the capital.

The opposition INDIA bloc, led by figures such as Rahul Gandhi, has called for widespread public participation in what they term a 'march for democracy and justice'. Gandhi purportedly urged citizens to mobilize following a weekend crackdown that saw forceful, mass detentions of protesters, lawyers, and journalists across Delhi.

Reports indicate that the Congress Party previously sought a formal audience with Chief Justice Surya Kant to address allegations of widespread vote theft. However, the Chief Justice allegedly declined the meeting, citing the ongoing sub judice nature of the case in the Supreme Court. Meanwhile, the local authorities announced that Jantar Mantar has been officially delisted as a designated protest site.

Security measures across the capital have reached unprecedented levels, with tens of thousands of security personnel deployed and internet services restricted near key demonstration zones. The aggressive intervention by the police regime, utilizing strict public gathering bans and mass arrests, underscores the severe friction and growing democratic erosion surrounding the electoral disputes.
