The Sudanese armed forces have reported executing a series of airstrikes targeting positions of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in the southwestern city of Nyala, allegedly eliminating dozens of paramilitary fighters. According to an official military statement, the operation focused on command centers and military strongholds in Nyala, which serves as the capital of South Darfur state and the proclaimed administrative hub for the paramilitary faction.

However, the RSF strongly disputed the military's narrative, claiming that the army deliberately targeted a crowded livestock market instead. According to the paramilitary group, the strike carried out by the military regime resulted in the deaths of 30 civilians, including 17 women and five children. The group has notably refrained from confirming or denying whether the parallel military raids successfully struck its command infrastructure.

Corroborating parts of the civilian toll, the human rights organization Emergency Lawyers stated on social media that a local market was struck by a drone allegedly affiliated with the Sudanese military. Reporting from Khartoum indicates that armed hostilities between the warring factions have drastically intensified across multiple fronts over the preceding 24 hours.

The devastating civil war in Sudan, which erupted in 2023, continues to inflict massive casualties, claiming tens of thousands of lives and triggering what the United Nations has designated as the worst humanitarian crisis globally. Despite the catastrophic suffering, military leadership has publicly pledged to recapture every inch of territory currently held by the opposing forces.
