The Iranian Embassy in Armenia has issued an ironic and sharp commentary targeting US regime Secretary of State Marco Rubio over his social media publication regarding a visit to Samarkand, Uzbekistan. Iranian diplomats accused the American top diplomat of double standards when evaluating the historical heritage of the East, pointing back to his recent controversial speech in Greece.

The remote polemic was sparked by Rubio's post during his trip to Central Asia for the "C5+1" ministerial meeting. The US regime official highlighted Samarkand's historical significance in global trade and the necessity of building futures upon past foundations. In response, the Iranian diplomatic mission in Yerevan underscored the ancient city's deep ties to Persian civilization and architecture.

In an official statement, the embassy remarked: "It's great that you are studying history! The place where you are standing is part of Persian civilization and architecture. The very civilization about which you talked nonsense last week near the Acropolis." This sharp retort highlights Tehran's persistent friction with Washington's selective interpretations of history.

The underlying tensions erupted following Rubio's policy speech in Athens, where he contrasted Western democratic roots with fierce rhetoric against modern Tehran, labeling Iranian authorities in hostile terms. Iranian officials have consistently condemned such rhetoric, arguing that human history and UNESCO heritage sites should not be exploited for political manipulation and belligerent narratives.
