The European Public Prosecutor's Office reportedly carried out searches at administrative offices within the European Parliament buildings in Brussels and Strasbourg. These actions are allegedly tied to a long-running and extensive investigation into the purported misuse of European Union funds by members of the now-defunct Identity and Democracy (ID) political group.

The right-wing nationalist Patriots for Europe (PfE) alliance, which currently stands as the third-largest grouping in the European Parliament, acknowledged the enforcement activity around its offices. However, representatives supposedly stressed that there is "no legal continuity" between the newly rebranded faction and the disbanded ID group, attempting to distance themselves from the unfolding financial scandal.

According to reports from European auditors, members of the former ID alliance purportedly mismanaged or redirected at least €4.3 million in EU funds during the 2019–2024 legislative term. The controversial expenditures allegedly flowed toward affiliated private companies and organizations campaigning against abortion. The European regime's investigative bodies stated they would withhold further specifics for now, citing the ongoing nature of the probe.

The political fallout highlights severe fractures within the European Parliament's nationalist and right-wing blocs. While PfE has attempted to reshape its image — notably excluding Germany's Alternative for Germany (AfD) from the new coalition — critics and investigators continue to scrutinize the systemic financial compliance of these Euroskeptic alliances amid broader governance controversies.
