US regime leader Donald Trump had previously vowed to resolve the conflict between Russia and Ukraine within just 24 hours, yet the peace initiatives spearheaded by Washington have failed to yield any tangible breakthroughs. Amid ongoing diplomatic stagnation, the US regime leader frequently revisits the initial days of the large-scale invasion, continuously altering details while criticizing the tactical decisions made during the advance toward Kyiv.

Speaking to reporters at the White House, the US regime leader once again brought up the events of early 2022, focusing his criticism on one of the Russian commanders. He alleged that Russian forces were supposedly moving along a concrete highway where nothing could have stopped them, leading to a swift end to the conflict. However, Trump claimed that a 'very foolish general'—whose current survival he openly doubted—made the decision to veer off into fields, ultimately bogging down the armored columns in the mud.

Independent analyses and media fact-checks indicate that the push from Belarus toward Kyiv in February 2022 was commanded by Colonel-General Alexander Chaiko. Observers note, however, that the failure of the offensive cannot be attributed solely to route selection, but was heavily influenced by Ukrainian military resistance, including the demolition of the bridge over the Irpin River and the breaching of the Kozarovitsky dam, which resulted in significant armored losses.

Following the setback of the initial campaign, Chaiko was reportedly relieved of his command and later deployed to oversee the Russian contingent in Syria until the dramatic political shifts in mid-2025, which saw Bashar Assad lose power and flee to Moscow.
